Solána Imani Rowe, popularly known as SZA, has opened up about a time when she had to let go of one of her favourite songs to Rihanna.

In an interview with Variety, the singer spoke about how Rihanna's 'Consideration' was initially her song.

Not only did she record it for her 2017 album, 'Ctrl', but even made a music video for it.

Sadly for her, days before the release of the album, she was told Rihanna asked to have the song for her album, 'Anti'.

SZA says after negotiations between record labels, the song was given to Rihanna.

This broke SZA's heart.

“I cared so much,” SZA said.

“I was so, just, frustrated. And I felt like, ‘I’ll never have anything this cool again.’ I’ll never make anything this cool again, and that was so crazy and so wrong.

“[The song] was like the centerpiece to my album at the time. And for her, it was just, like, part of her album. And I was like, ‘Please, no'."

Fortunately, Rihanna getting the song turned out to be a great blessing to SZA.

Rihanna did not remove SZA's vocals on the song. The collaboration between the two artists led to the star gaining more popularity.

“Now I’m so glad that that happened, and that it didn’t cost me anything,” SZA said. “If anything, I gained a bunch from it. And I thank God that I made cool music outside of that," she added.

The singer said she is happy that even after 'Consideration' she continued to produce hits.

"I don’t know why I just really thought my creativity would just stop, and this was the pinnacle of what I could make.”
