Selena Gomez shares career advice: 'I create with purpose'
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Selena Gomez is sharing the one piece of advice her mother gave her that has helped her navigate her music and business career.
Create & Cultivate has revealed the list of women it is honouring for their contributions to the female workforce. The online community released its 'CC100' list this week.
Selena Gomez has been recognised in the 'Beauty' category for the launch of her cosmetic line, Rare Beauty.
The singer has been honoured in the category alongside nine other women, including 24-year-old beauty entrepreneur Olamide Olowe.
Selana launched Rare Beauty in September 2020. The singer aimed to break down the "unrealistic standards of perfection" with her brand.
Part of the proceeds from her cruelty-free make-up line goes to the Rare Impact Fund. The fund, which is part of Selena's brand, gives grants to organisations tackling mental health issues.

The 'Lose You To Love Me' hitmaker juggles several businesses along with her music and acting career. She told Create & Cultivate she loves what she does, which helps keep her motivated.
The 29-year-old says she loves using her voice for good, and her beauty brand is trying to make real changes in the industry.
"That’s why I am so dedicated to not only raising funds through the Rare Impact Fund, but using my platforms to provide mental health resources to young people," she says.

Selena also revealed the advice her mother, Mandy Teefey, gave her that has helped her throughout her career.
"My mother has always reminded me that everything I have in life is a privilege—and that it can all be taken away at any moment. That helps me create with purpose so that I can make a positive impact with anything I do."
