Nomcebo Zikode dismisses “false and injurious” Open Mic reports
Nomcebo Zikode is threatening further legal action if her dispute with the record label is not resolved.
South African singer Nomcebo Zikode is clarifying recent reports that she has settled a dispute with Open Mic Productions.
The star has been involved in a longstanding battle with the record label over royalties and other issues. She has stated that the label failed to pay her royalties for two of her hit songs, including 'Jerusalema' with Master KG.
Nomcebo and Open Mic were said to have resolved their issues but she has released a statement saying her battle continues.
"The truth of the matter is that a court order was obtained in late 2022 which ordered Open Mic and Nomcebo to enter into a joint venture agreement and settle the outstanding issues between the two parties,” her management said in a statement.

Nomcebo's team made it clear that she is yet to receive her royalties.
“These outstanding issues were first made public when Nomcebo announced that she had not been paid any of her due royalties from the record-breaking global hit single, ‘Jerusalema’ or her project, ‘Xola Moya Wam’. This remains the case to date.”
No resolution has been reached between the pair, but the matter could head back to court "should this not be resolved in the coming weeks".
“Nomcebo is eagerly awaiting the finalisation of this matter so that she can continue with her recording plans and put out new music to further her career as a recording artist,” IMG Africa CEO Sibo Mhlungu said in the statement.
He added that they are "unhappy" with Open Mic's delays.
“We had jointly undertaken to adhere to clearly stipulated timelines on submission of all required information, which remains outstanding, thus prolonging the matter. Should this not be resolved in the coming weeks, we are certain that we’ll be going back to court.”

The singer is not letting her legal woes stop her from taking her music to the world. She is currently in Washington, D.C. for yet another global performance.
The 37-year-old is in demand all over the world and has been catching flights nonstop since 'Jerusalema' became a worldwide hit a few years ago.
She performed in front of 150,000 people during a New Year's Eve concert in Miami. She personally helped the crowd ring in the New Year.
"Looking back at the NYE Concert at Bayfront Park brings tears to my eyes as I look at what God has done for me! People of Miami, you have a special place in my heart, I’ll forever be grateful," she wrote on Instagram in January.
A few weeks later she was in Los Angeles for the 2023 Grammy Awards which were hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah.
Nomcebo, Zakes Bantwini, and Wouter Kellerman won a Grammy for their song, 'Bayethe'.
