New Jay-Z album on the way in 2024?

Roc Nation is setting the record straight after rumours started circulating at the weekend that Jay-Z is working on a new album. 

Music video director Hidji World caused a stir when he revealed on his Instagram Stories on Sunday that he was shooting with the Grammy Award-winning rapper. 

He shared a picture of a clapperboard with the words: "Jay Z - 2024 ALBUM". 

Hidji was listed as the director while Director of Photography Leroy Farrell was mentioned under camera. 

Jay-Z's fans were quick to celebrate.

"I’m sorry but I believe the rumor! Jay-Z is definitely about to drop a new album because the news is spreading like wildfire," one X user wrote.

Another X user added: "Ironically enough, I asked Lenny S if JAY-Z was dropping a new album in 2024. He smirked, so you never know. I predict JAY-Z’s final studio album will be titled: The Book of HOV or The Story of S. Carter. If HOV goes on tour, I’ll be there in a heartbeat."

However, Roc Nation was quick to shut down the rumours. 

"That’s news to us," the entertainment company, which is founded by Jay-Z, wrote on X.

The last time Jay-Z released a solo album was in 2017 when he dropped '4:44'. 

The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in America. '4:44' featured collaborations with Frank Ocean, Damian Marley, and Jay-Z's wife, Beyoncé.

The couple's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, featured on a bonus track called, 'Blue's Freestyle / We Family'.

Jay-Z is currently the richest rapper in the world word with a reported net worth of $2.5-billion. He owns several businesses including a champagne brand called Armand de Brignac (Ace of Spades). 

It's unclear what project Hidji was referring to in his Instagram post but sadly for fans, it is not a new Jay-Z album.
