Nadia Nakai shares snippet of AKA tribute song

Nadia Nakia has shared a teaser of her new song, 'Never Leave'. The track is a tribute to her late boyfriend Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes. 

AKA and his friend, Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane, were shot and killed outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023. 

Nadia will release her tribute song on Friday - two days before what would have been AKA's 36th birthday. The song features KashCPT. 

"Never Leave. Tribute Single ft @kashcpt. dropping 26th JANUARY. I Miss You. Happy Heavenly Birthday (28 January 2024)," Nadia wrote on Instagram.

Nadia also shared a lyric from the song. 

"And the day I got that news, I wish you kept on this damn pendant."

The 'Naaa Meaan' rapper's fans were touched by the song's lyrics. "These lyrics are making me emotional yoh," one fan wrote on Instagram.  

Another fan added: "The way her voice changes, man you can literally hear the pain. Strength you you mama."

Several celebrities also left messages of support for Nadia,

"So proud of you mama," Pearl Thusi commented. Khanyi Mbau wrote: "Now this I wanna hear."

AKA's mother, Lynn Forbes, has maintained a close relationship with Nadia and DJ Zinhle - the mother of AKA's daughter - since his passing. 

Lynn showed Nadia some love by leaving a white heart and a dove emoji in the comments.
