Lee Cole shows his vulnerability with ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’
Updated | By ECR
Lee Cole, one of pop’s most exciting new artists, has just dropped the single and music video for his latest release, ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’.
Lee Cole is one of pop’s most exciting new artists. Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, Cole was always exposed to a plethora of musical genres. At just 10, he started singing and by the time he was 13, Cole began putting pen to paper – jotting down every drop of creativity he could muster.
Cole first gained attention in his home country through his cover of the hit, ‘Akanamali’ - which has garnered over 300,000 views on YouTube to date. That same year saw Lee Cole release his first string of songs which saw rotation on the likes of 5fm and Jacaranda FM, among many others.
Upon first listen, the soul-gripping tones of his vocals reel you in unapologetically. By the end, it’s clear that there is a vulnerability in his sound - a piano or guitar painting over the cracks in the soar of his vocals.
2020 sees Cole venturing forward into international territory. ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, was released on 9 February 2020.

Both the song and video were written and recorded in New Jersey, USA with indie label Watersound Entertainment and DMF Films, respectively. Cole directed the music video himself, choosing the Long Branch Train Station (New Jersey) as the locale to bring the song to life. Cole is set to tour in 2020 following the release of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’.
