In honour of Madonna's birthday, here's a look at five of her biggest hits.
Like a Virgin (1984)
Taken off her second studio album of the same name, this song remains one of Madonna's most iconic tracks. The hit spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Q magazine credited the 'Like a Virgin' album with propelling Madonna into the stratosphere.
Papa Don't Preach (1986)
'Papa Don't Preach' earned Madonna her fourth number one in America when it was released in 1986. The song, which is the second single off her 'True Blue' album, has been covered by several other artists, including Kelly Osbourne.
Like a Prayer (1989)
'Like a Prayer' remains one of Madonna's most controversial songs to date. Despite the controversy, the song was a worldwide hit.
Vogue (1990)
'Vogue' was the first single released off Madonna's 1990 album, 'I'm Breathless'. The song received critical acclaim and topped the charts in many countries, including China, Australia, and the UK.
Music (2000)
"Music makes the people come together," Madonna sings on her 2000 hit. Her 'Music' album debuted at number one in several countries and it was all thanks to its lead single of the same name.
Tune in to East Coast Radio on August 16 as we pay tribute to the legend by playing some of her biggest hits.
