Everything you need to know about The Chainsmokers’ new album
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Here are four things you need to know about The Chainsmokers’ highly-anticipated new album.
The Chainsmokers’ collaboration with Coldplay, ‘Something Just Like This’, is in the top 10 of just about every major music chart around the world, including the Coca-Cola Top 40 with Ricky and Carol Ofori.
It is currently sitting at number three on the Coca-Cola Top 40, and music lovers can’t get enough of it.
The hit track is available on the US duo’s new album, ‘Memories… Do Not Open’, which was released a few days ago.
Here are four fun things you need to know about their latest offering.
It is set for a #1 debut in the US
‘Memories… Do Not Open’ is on course to sell over 200,000 units in its first week of sales in America, which ends on April 13. The feat would make it the group’s first number one album. The Chainsmokers’ previous two EPs, ‘Bouquet’ and ‘Collage’, peaked at number 31 and six respectively.

Hot Collaborations
The album’s most notable collaboration so far features Coldplay, but there are a few other A-list artists making an appearance. Six of the album’s 12 songs feature artists such as Jhené Aiko, Florida Georgia Line, and Emily Warren – who features on two songs. Track No.5, ‘Something Just Like This’, with Coldplay, is the duo’s third top five US single in their career. The album’s lead single, ‘Paris’, joined ‘Something Just Like This’ on the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10, alongside ‘Closer’ – making them the third group in history to have three songs feature simultaneously on the chart.

Andrew Taggart is doing a lot more singing
Andrew Taggart’s “bad vocals” take centre stage in ‘Memories… Do Not Open’, featuring on six of the album’s songs. Despite some studio wizardry, critics feel that is one too many! The album has received mixed reviews for being too much of the same thing, with some labelling it one of the worst albums of 2017 so far. But that is unlikely to put off The Chainsmokers’ fans, who are bopping their heads to just about every single the duo has released over the past year.

Set to dominate in 2017
Despite negative reviews, The Chainsmokers are set to dominate the music scene like they did in 2016. Their previous EPs continue to get people talking, and their new album is likely to keep that momentum going. The group has been nominated for 22 awards at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. Some of the categories they feature in include, Top Dance/Electronic Album for ‘Bouquet’ and ‘Collage’, and Top Selling Song for ‘Closer’ and ‘Don’t Let Me Down’. With two singles off their new album currently in the Billboard Top 10, we can expect the duo to have another successful year. They are also preparing to go on tour soon.
