Ed Sheeran adds extra Joburg date - what about Durban?

Ed Sheeran has added another night to his concert in Johannesburg but there is still "dololo" for Durban despite over 5,000 people signing a petition.

Ed Sheeran fans in Johannesburg are celebrating after Big Concerts announced that the singer will be adding a second night to his show at FNB Stadium.

Organisers say the move is due to an overwhelming response from fans in Jozi.

Cape Town fans are also pushing for an extra date. Tickets for the CT show went on sale today and sold out in a few hours.

"Looking at the demand for this event in Cape Town, can we get an extra show like Joburg? #EdSheeran," a Twitter user asked after the Joburg announcement.

Meanwhile, Ed's fans in Durban can't even get one night!

Sadly, Durban did not make the cut when the 'Shape of You' hitmaker revealed he would be touring South Africa for the first time ever in March 2019. But Durbanites are big Ed supporters, with several of his songs from his latest album, 'Divide', making it onto the Coca-Cola Top 40 chart.

Durban fans are so desperate for an Ed show they started a petition in the hopes of getting organisers to see the light.

More than 5,000 people have already signed the petition, which was created by Durban North fan Jason Liebenberg.

"Durban has been left out once again, let's create some noise in order for BIG Concerts to bring Ed Sheeran to a no doubt, sold out, Durban!" he wrote on the petition's website.

Durban fans are gutted at being left out.

"As much as we appreciate all the effort that goes into getting these superstars to SA remember it's also costly flying up to Jhb and CPT and no doubt more than half of your ticket sales will be coming from DBN so please try to be fair & add a show in DBN before tickets go on sale," one Twitter user wrote.

Here's what others had to say.

So far, these are the only dates for Ed's SA tour. We're still crossing fingers for Durban!

Saturday, 23 March, Johannesburg, FNB Stadium
