DJ Black Coffee recalls chatting to his friend Avicii days before his death.
South Africa's DJ Black Coffee honoured his friend Avicii during his final set at Coachella 2018.
Black Coffee played the 28-year-old's hit single, 'Wake Me Up, on stage while a huge picture of the pair was displayed on a screen behind him.
Several days before the Swedish DJ was found dead in Muscat, Oman, he was chatting to Black Coffee and festival producer Shaun Duvet.
The trio talked about how South Africa's electronic gqom music and African rhythm were influencing music.
Black Coffee shared a screenshot of their chat on Instagram.
"Life is Fragile....Just last week I was chatting with you and @shaunduvet about working together, excited about being inspired by your recent visit in South Africa. Thank you for sharing your Gift with us Legend. Death be not proud. RIP Bro @avicii," Black Coffee wrote on Instagram.
Officials have ruled out "criminal suspicion" in Avicii's death.
Avicii stepped away from the limelight two years ago, citing his hectic schedule, stress, and illness for his decision.
He has also spoken openly about how being surrounded by alcohol at gigs affected him.
"Yeah I was drinking way too much, partying in general way too much. Then I got a pancreatitis attack [at 21], which is very rare. So that forced me to do a 180 and stop drinking," he told Time in 2013.
Last year, Avicii indicated that he was heading back to studio.
“We all reach a point in our lives and careers where we understand what matters the most to us. For me it’s creating music,” he wrote. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do. The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new. Hope you´ll enjoy it as much as I do," he wrote on his website.
