More than 'Okay': Listen to Matthew Mole's reworked song
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Matthew Mole's new song has three different versions, and he says you are going to love them all!
South African musician Matthew Mole has a new EP out and it contains new versions of his song, 'Okay'.
The original version of the song appears on the singer-songwriter's fourth studio album, 'Wake Up, It's Morning'.
"This Friday, I’m releasing the OKAY EP, and it’s got 3 different versions of OKAY, and you’re gonna love them all, I promise!" Matthew wrote on Instagram.
'The Wedding Song' hitmaker collaborated with CHXRL, an alt-pop singer from Johannesburg, on one version of the track.
Matthew first noticed the singer when he posted an acoustic cover of one of his songs.
“I’ve known CHXRL for about a year now and he is such a gem of a human. When I released ‘Say You’ll Be Mine’, he posted a video online where he took the song and created his own version where he layered his own production on top of the original version. I loved it so much and thought that ‘Okay’ would be a fun song for him to do it again, officially!” he said.
Matthew's three-song EP also features a version recorded live at Kirstenbosch in Cape Town.
“You can dress a song in so many different ways, but the song remains the song. I love dressing my songs in different ways whether for release, to play live or just for the fun of it. I thought it would be fun to bring CHXRL in on this one because he is insanely talented and creative and will show people this song in a way that’s different to what I could have done and I think people will love it!” he said.
