Kelly Clarkson puts a rock spin on Sia's 'Bird Set Free'

Kelly Clarkson is putting her own spin on a popular Sia song. 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' host covered Sia's single, 'Bird Set Free', on the latest 'Kellyoke'.

'Kellyoke' is a segment of her show that features a live band. During the segment, Kelly performs covers of popular songs. Previous covers include Taylor Swift's 'Better Man' and 'I Wanna Get Better' by the Bleachers.

This time, she took on a song with a very interesting history. 'Bird Set Free' was originally pitched as a song for the movie, 'Pitch Perfect 2'. It did not make the cut and was sent to Adele.

Adele recorded the song for her third studio album, '25', but it was not included in the final tracklist.

Sia eventually released the song in 2015 as the first single from her album, 'This Is Acting'.

Kelly is a big fan of the singer. Sia wrote two songs for her album, 'Piece by Piece'.

"I love songwriters and singers, like Sia, that are so passionate and you can tell have lived the song. I love that, because there’s nothing worse than listening to a song sung by someone who obviously has never had a broken heart or has never been treated unfairly or been so in love that you can’t contain it," she said in a 2015 interview.
