Country singer checks into rehab after disastrous national anthem performance

Fergie can finally rest! Social media users are reacting to what has been described as the worst national anthem performance in history...
Country singer Ingrid Andress is speaking out after butchering America's national anthem.
The Grammy nominee was ridiculed online after singing the Star-Spangled Banner at the recent Major League Baseball (MLB) Home Run Derby.
Singing the anthem is a big deal, and those who sing it are often compared to Whitney Houston's 1991 Super Bowl performance, which set the bar high.
Sadly, Ingrid missed every note and sang off-key throughout the entire performance. "My ears are bleeding. One of the worst national anthem renditions ever," a X (Twitter) user wrote.
Some were shocked to learn that the 32-year-old has been nominated for not one but four Grammys. "4 time Grammy nominated. goes to show you it’s not what you know it’s who," a woman on Instagram commented.
Another Instagram user added: "This is what happens when you lie on your resume. No auto-tune here, love."

Ingrid revealed in a social media post that she was drunk during her performance.
"I’m not gonna bulls**t y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night,” she said.
“I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is, I hear it’s super fun.”
Ingrid's fans, including actress Lucy Hale, flooded the comments section with messages of support.
"I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Sending you a lot of my thoughts. Take care of you & you’re going to come out of this so much stronger," the 'Pretty Little Liars' actress wrote.
Another fan said: "We love you!! You’re a great musician don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!! Everyone has a bad day… it’s human !! You do whatever you need to do !! Your fans are here for you!"

The singer's national anthem has been likened to that of Fergie. The former Blacked Eye Peas member made headlines in 2018 when she tried to put a unique spin on the US national anthem.
It did not end well.
Her rendition was long considered the worst in history. After Ingrid's performance, an Instagram user said: "Fergie can finally rest!"

Some people have been checking Ingrid's other performances on YouTube to see if her anthem blunder was a once off thing.
It seems she honestly just had a bad day. Blame it on the alcohol!
South Africa had its own Fergie moment when Reggae singer Ras Dumisani performed 'Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika' at South Africa's Test match against France in 2009.
