Ella Mai's new album, 'Heart On My Sleeve', drops this week, and as the title implies, the English singer pours out her heart and soul.

The 27-year-old has already released two singles from the album, 'Not Another Love Song' and 'DFMU'. Ella has been working on her second album since 2020.

Due to the success of her first album - which produced hits such as 'Boo'd Up' - people have high expectations for her new project.

Speaking to NME,  Ella admitted that she had some challenges finding her rhythm.

"There were days when it just wasn’t working. With art when you get too in your head…and start overthinking anything you can’t actually create to your full potential. So, I really had to hone it in really be like: ‘calm down, relax and stop putting pressure on yourself’," she said.

Ella was spotted in the studio with J. Cole and Pharrell Williams in August last year. She described the experience as "a bucket list type of week".

While she did record new music with the pair, the 'Whatchamacallit' hitmaker says they don't feature on her upcoming album.

Ella has also shared the tracklist ahead of her album's release on Friday, May 6.

I really just want to inspire people the way that I have been inspired. That’s what success means to me," she told NME.

The Grammy Award-winning singer's latest single, 'DFMU', is currently at number 35 on The East Coast Radio Top 40.
