Doja Cat loses 200k Instagram followers after social media rant

"I miss the old Doja".... Doja Cat has left her followers angry and confused after a bizarre rant about the ‘kitttenz’ fan name.
Doja Cat has done what very few music artists dare to do - attack their own fans.
The 27-year-old has reportedly lost more than 200,000 Instagram followers after making some bizarre statements about her fans.
The drama unfolded on Threads. A user asked the 'Vegas' singer if she loves her fanbase.
"I don’t though cuz I don’t even know yall," she replied. Fair enough, but things took a turn for the worse when the user shared a follow-up post telling her that her fans don't know her personally but support her regardless.
"We don't know you but we have supported you through thick and thin. Mind you, you’d be nothing without us. You'd be working at a grocery store making songs on f***ing GarageBand, Miss High School Dropout," the fan clapped back.
Doja Cat did not take the comment lying down.
"Nobody forced you. Idk why you're talking to me like you're my mother b***h. You sound like a crazy person."

Get off your phone and get a job.- Doja Cat to fans calling themselves 'kitten' or f***ing 'kittenz'.
Doja Cat has since deactivated her Threads account. Read the crazy Threads exchange here. The singer also sparked a fiery conversation about her fandom's nickname.
Her fans are called 'Kittenz'. It's not unusual for fans to have a nickname. Taylor Swift's fans are called 'Swifties', Rihanna's are nicknamed 'Rihanna Navy', and Beyoncé's fanbase calls themselves the 'Beyhive'.
"My fans don't name themselves s**t. If you call yourself a 'kitten' or f***ing 'kittenz' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house," Doja Cat wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
One fan asked what they should change the fandom name to if she doesn't like the term 'kitten'.
"Just delete the entire account and rethink everything," she told the fan. Ironically, "kittenz" is the nickname Doja Cat gave her fans in 2020 after asking them to vote on which name they want to use.
They had to vote via a Twitter poll because she said she didn't "feel morally right pet-naming you guys", urging them to "pick one and stick with it".
Doja Cat also took a swipe at a follower who used her real name, which is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, in her user name.
"You using my government name in your sn is creepy," she said.

According to Metro, Doja Cat lost 200,000 followers in one day after her recent rant.
Some of her biggest Twitter fan pages, which regularly shared updates about her life and career, have also deactivated their pages.
But some people have come to the singer's defence.
"She [is] saying y’all are ridiculously obsessed. Using her actual name, calling yourselves kittens like it some Doja cult. She basically saying it a [waste] of time to be that involved when you could be productive with other things. She’s not bashing fans but speaking on the obsessed people and I could see how that could be quite annoying," and Instagram user said.

Doja Cat slandering her fans is crazy tbh cos I don’t understand why you would attack your fans for just giving themselves a name just like every other fanbase out there.
