Africa, get ready for Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa.

The American rappers have announced that they are planning to visit the African continent to host a festival.

'The Black Star Line Festival' will take place on 6 January 2023 in Accra, Ghana. It will be held at the Black Star Square.

Mensa told Pitchfork that the aim of the festival is to bring unity to blacks across the world.

“Everything we’re doing is with the goal of uniting and building a bridge between black people of the diaspora and the globe, with the continent,” Mensa told Pitchfork.

He added that "Ghana is the gateway to all of that”.

Both Chance the Rapper and Vic reportedly trace their lineage to the West African country.

Earlier this year, Mensa visited the country and met with the President Akufo-Addo. The two reportedly discussed how they could help bridge the gap between American and Ghanaian artists.

Last week, he took a group of young people from Chicago to Ghana.

"A year ago we had the idea to take a group of kids from Chicago to Ghana. There are some things about yourself that you can only understand by knowing where you come from. Our dream is to build bridges that cross the ocean of divide created by the transatlantic slave trade. Today we are one step closer to actualising that dream," he wrote on IG.
