Celine Dion slams Donald Trump for unauthorised use of her song
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
"Really, that song?" - Donald Trump played 'My Heart Will Go On' at one of his rallies and Celine Dion is not impressed.
Celine Dion is the latest high-profile musician who has banned Donald Trump from using their songs at his rallies.
The music icon slammed the 2024 presidential hopeful after he played a video of her singing 'My Heart Will Go On' at a campaign rally in Montana.
The song was a bizarre choice for the rally, especially considering that it is the soundtrack to a movie about a sinking ship!
Donald Trump embodies a sinking ship. 😂 Yes folks, in Montana his campaign indeed played "My heart will go on" by Celine Dion. The soundtrack to a movie of a sinking ship. 🙈 @celinedion should take action against this convicted felon! @celinedionlcon #CelineDion #Trump #weird pic.twitter.com/nEkZdxYCmS

Celine took to all her social media platforms to make it clear that she did not give Donald Trump or his team permission to use her music.
"Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing “My Heart Will Go On” at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana," a statement read.
Celine and her team were also baffled by the choice of song.
"In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use…And really, THAT song?
Several stars, including Ariana Grande and Deborah Cox, commented on the 56-year-old singer's post.
"I love you 😭," Ariana wrote on Instagram.
Deborah commented: "Ha……………..I love it."
Other stars who have asked the Trump team not to use their music include Adele, Aerosmith, Elton John, Guns N Roses, Bruce Springsteen, and the Beatles.

Celine Dion Titanic song
Celine recorded 'My Heart Will Go One' for the 1997 movie 'Titanic', starring Leonard DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose. It has won multiple awards, including 'Best Original Song' at the Oscars and Golden Globes.
'My Heart Will Go On' was also awarded 'Record of the Year' and 'Song of the Year' at the Grammys.
A new version of the song's music video was released in 2023 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
"To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Celine Dion’s biggest hit of all time, this performance-focused music video has been reimagined, featuring remastered footage in stunning clarity. Newly transferred from the original 35mm film reels and assembled in a brand new 4K edit, the video features exclusive, never-before-seen footage from the original ‘My Heart Will Go On’ video shoot from 1997," Celine's team said.
