Ariana Grande's remix of 'The Boy Is Mine' helped heal a rift between Brandy and Monica.

The R&B stars barely spoke to each other over the years, but Ariana unknowingly helped bring them back together.

Ariana released 'The Boy Is Mine' earlier this month as the third song from her new album, 'Eternal Sunshine'. The track is a reimagined version of Brandy and Monica's 1998 classic of the same name.

Both Brandy and Monica made cameos in Ariana's music video, and it was soon announced that they would also feature in the song's remix.

The remix officially dropped on June 21. It has elements from both songs, but is unique in its own way.

"Brandy's harmonies and tone take this so to the next level....Monica did her thing too. Amazing collab!" one YouTube user wrote.

MORE FROM EAST COAST RADIO:

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight (ET), Monica says she is grateful that Ariana was able to reunite her with Brandy.

"The process of the new collaboration did a lot of closing the gaps. When you properly communicate, something -- you can find not only the resolutions and solutions to problems -- but sometimes you find that there weren't ever problems, just consistent miscommunications," she said.

The Grammy Award winner says they spoke more in four weeks than they did in the past two decades. Monica says 'The Boy is Mine 2.0', as they're calling it, was very healing for their relationship.

"It was not something that I would say was anyone's fault," Monica told ET of the pair's rocky relationship, admitting at the time, "We all added to it, and after a while, it became real. It's over now. And it took a very adult conversation. There's no shame in saying that," Monica later added. "We had to come to that place and to that moment that we had, that allowed us to sit here today. That had to happen first," she told ET
