Music icon Anita Baker has thanked Chance The Rapper for helping her acquire the ownership of her masters.  The 'Sweet Love' hitmaker sang the rapper's praises during one of her recent shows.

“You should say hello to a friend of mine by way of the music industry and by way of helping me - helping me to get a hold and ownership of my master recordings,” Anita told the audience.

Chance, who attended the show with a friend, stood up when the singer pointed him out. The audience gave him a round of applause.

Chance retweeted the video shared on Twitter.

"I saw one of THE greatest performances of my LIFETIME last night! Thank you so much @IAMANITABAKER for being an inspiration and an icon to so many of US," he tweeted.

Anita revealed that Chance's appearance at the show brought tears to her eyes.

"Had no idea you would be in our Midst. Such a nice Surprise. Brought Tears, to my eyes. Hope Ms. Essence enjoyed her Birthday ABXO," the 64-year-old replied.

Anita first revealed that she has regained ownership of her masters in a tweet she shared in September last year.

She captioned an image of her albums: All My Children Are Coming Home. Impossible Things Happen... Every. Single. Day. Gratefully."

The award-winning artist asked her fans to stop streaming her music in March 2021. She was embroiled in a battle with her record label.

Anita accused the label of making her fight for her masters despite a law that allows her to regain the copyright to her masters after 30 years.
