Top three games to play this festive season
Updated | By Gareth Jenkinson
My
love of sport is closely followed by my obsession with PC gaming, and it’s hard
to find time to do both on weekends.
I need to watch rugby, cricket, and soccer to keep up to date, so gaming often sits on the backburner.
While one of my favourites games is DOTA2, which I blog about, there are a couple of games I’ll be playing this holiday as the sporting years winds down to a close.

FIFA18
I recently got my hands on the latest edition of FIFA18 and once again, EA have delivered an excellent game.
Powered by the Frostbite 3 engine, playing virtual football has never felt so realistic. The way players move and the ball behaves are so lifelike - and the collisions and physics involved really are out of this world.
All the usual features make this latest instalment of the game feel familiar - but I particularly enjoy the My Career feature. You can take your very own player through training drills between games to build up their stats - giving the feel of an actual training week for a player.
You can also jam with your mates - so expect some awesome gaming moments this December.

Assassin's Creed: Origins
Black Friday gifted me the latest installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise and I cannot wait to get stuck into this game.
I’ve been a long-time fan of the franchise and I spent many hours exploring the many places and historic timelines the game has taken us to in the past.
In Origins, you travel back to Egypt as an Assassin.
For fans of RPGs, Ubisoft have introduced gear progression to the game - which adds an awesome dynamic to previous versions, where you could buy better gear as you make more money.
The combat system has also been overhauled, making for a far more immersive experience. The map is massive as well - so you can literally get lost in this game over the next few weeks.

Battlefield One
Battlefield One has been out for some time, but the latest expansion Turning Tides introduces players to World War One’s Battle of Gallipoli.
Launching on December 11, players can jump into two new maps and new weapons and items will be introduced to the game.
If that wasn’t enough, Battlefield One will take us to the North Sea with another two maps in January.
For fans of the franchise that haven’t played Battlefield One - this game is great. It’s a fast-paced multiplayer shooter that brings World War One to life with the best graphics to date. The fact that new content is being released so regularly means great value for money as well.
I’ll definitely be playing a few rounds of BF1 over the next weeks.
