Listeriosis: Manufacturers yet to set out disposal plan - NCC
The National Consumer Commission is waiting for more details on how the manufacturers of the products named in the listeriosis outbreak are going to dispose of the recalled products.
"In terms of the disposal plan around this matter as well as the recall strategy - that they will be implementing - the stores are going to keep them in an isolated place. We will have the finer details once we have received the disposal plan of these manufacturers," The commission's Trevor Hattingh said.
An Enterprise polony factory in Polokwane has been identified as the source of the outbreak.
Tests have also been conducted on another Enterprise factory and one which produces food for Rainbow Chicken factory.
All Enterprise chilled-ready-to-eat meats have been recalled while Rainbow Chicken has withdrawn a few products.

Hattingh says anyone who purchased the listed products will be able to return them for a full refund as long as it's in the original packaging.
"A consumer can now take any of these items that are affected back to any of the big retailers because on these products - there are uniform barcode which identifies the product. The consumer can then take it to any of their trading partners - it doesn't have to be the retailer where you purchased it from," he said.
