Tips: How to clean your sofa without damaging it
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Whether your sofas are made of leather or upholstery, here is how you can clean them well.

Caring for your couches will go a long way in preserving them.
You can call a professional cleaner to do a deep clean once or twice a year, however, hiring a professional can be costly.
There is some dirt that you can clean by yourself.
What is important is that you clean according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Depending on the cleaning instructions written on your sofa, some require that you only use a water-based cleaner on the fabric. Others will have an 'S' written on the label, which means you must use a solvent-based cleaner or dry clean only. On other fabrics, you can use both methods to clean.
Other fabrics do not require water. You can only brush or vacuum the sofa.

When it comes to leather couches, gently use a damp cloth dipped in warm soapy water to remove dirty spots.
There are also leather cleaning products available on the market.
Please refrain from applying heat on leather as it will damage it.
