Three unique uses for toothpaste
Updated | By Andrew Hallett
Did you ever think to use your toothpaste for things other than cleaning your teeth?
We all use toothpaste on a daily basis (well, we hope you do!). It is one of those personal hygiene products that you can't go without.
But did you ever think to use your toothpaste for things other than ensuring your teeth are kept in tip-top shape?
Well, we have come across three very random other uses for toothpaste, and we can't wait to let you in on the secret.
1 - Cleaning stains on your carpet
There are loads of life hacks when it comes to removing stains from your carpets, but the use of toothpaste is actually pretty effective. All you need to do is squeeze some of the minty goo onto the stain, rub into the affected area with an old toothbrush, and then use water to rinse clean. You will more than likely need to do this process a few times depending on the stain's stubbornness, but this method has been proven to work. Disclaimer: If the stain is rather large, we would suggest going the professional route when it comes to cleaning it, as the toothpaste is more effective on smaller, less obvious issues on your carpet.
2 - Cleaning your plastic patio furniture
When one leaves patio furniture to the mercy of the elements, they can become quite grubby and nasty looking. Never fear - toothpaste is here! All you need is a water and toothpaste solution, a scrubbing brush, and some time to put effort into scrubbing the furniture clean. This isn't going to be a quick job and requires a fair amount of elbow grease, but the results are more than worth it. Normal toothpaste is fine for all different colours of plastic furniture, but if yours is white, we suggest using a whitening toothpaste to give it that extra shine.
3 - Clean your sneakers
Sneakers are expensive. They are also magnets for dirt. The worst thing in the world is stepping out in your brand new kicks and getting scuff marks within the first five minutes. Toothpaste is an excellent product to use to get rid of stubborn marks on your shoes. All you need to do is apply some toothpaste onto the white area of your shoes, scrub with a tooth brush, and then rinse with water. Leave to dry (not in direct sunlight as that can warp your shoes) and you will have a near-new looking pair of sneakers. Awesome!
