Three steps to setting up the perfect home office
Updated | By Poelano Malema
The number of people working from home worldwide has increased over the last couple of years.
Not only has working from home proven to produce more results , but it also has lots of benefits for both the employer and the employee.
For the employer, it means cutting down on costs. You do not having to worry about paying rent for office space, hiring cleaners, and employing security.
For the employee, working from home means no worrying about being stuck in traffic, having to budget money for lunch, and having to be considerate of other people in the office. You don't even have to worry about dressing up for the office.
However, as great as working from home is, one of the things you have to think about is where in your house you will work from, especially if you don't have an extra room that can be turned into an office.
The great thing is you can set up your home office station just about anywhere in the house. You just need to find a good space, desk for your laptop/computer, a comfortable chair, shelves or storage space, and if you work with files, a filing cabinet.
Here is a three-step guide to ensuring you have the right office space at home.
Step One
Choose a space in the house that is next to a window so you can get sunlight and fresh air.
Step Two
Erect your desk and chair. Make sure you choose a desk that doesn't take up much space. You can even opt for a fold-away table.
Step Three
Install shelves on the walls around your desk, or get a small cupboard that will store your supplies.
Just a word of advice: Remember to let your family know that working from home is not a joke. They should know that your work and your work station should be respected.
