It's not something out of a sci-fi movie. It's currently in development by South African aerospace engineering company Pegasus Universal Aerospace, and it's called the Pegasus 1 Vertical Business Jet (VBJI).

Equipped with high tech cool-air fan technology the aircraft will be able to safely land on unfamiliar surfaces such as grass, roof tops and wooden decks.

CEO of Pegasus Universal Aerospace, Dr Reza Mia, chats to East Coast Radio's Diane Macpherson about the exciting project which, he hopes, will help to revolutionise air transportation.
