The annual Sardine Run is one of the most spectacular marine events in the world. According to Durbanite Jace Govender, a respected Sardine Run expert, we’re just a few weeks away from witnessing this majestic phenomenon.
My prediction: two to three weeks, we should see the big shoals.
Predictions for This Year's Sardine Run
"My predictions," says Jace Govender, "are that in two to three weeks, we should see the big shoals." For marine enthusiasts, this means a chance to witness nature at its most vibrant and dynamic.
"The Sardine Run is famous for drawing millions of sardines," notes Govender, "which in turn attract a host of predators including dolphins, sharks, and seabirds." This creates an incredible spectacle for divers and photographers alike.
Unique Opportunities
Govender emphasises, "If you are planning to experience the Sardine Run in person, now is the time to prepare." The convergence of so many species in one place offers a unique opportunity to see marine life in action.
