September is Heart Awareness Month and East Coast
Breakfast host, Darren Maule, has the perfect meat-free recipe that will have
you licking your lips - and you could stand a chance to win big in the process!
September is Heart Awareness Month and World Heart Day takes place this year on Sunday 29th September 2019.
According to the Heart Foundation, heart disease is the second most common cause of death in South Africa, with 1 in 5 South Africans dying of heart disease. A plant-based diet has been shown to prevent and even treat heart disease and the risk of dying from heart disease is 24% lower in vegetarians than those who eat meat.
Just in time for Heart Awareness Month and Braai Day, the team from The Fry Family Food Co., South Africa’s favourite plant-based and meat replacement brand has rolled out a brand-new range of artisanal sausages.
Although Braai Day doesn’t fall on a Meat-Free Monday, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a meat-free Braai - especially if it’s going to make your heart healthier.
East Coast Breakfast's Darren Maule is not only good at radio and comedy but is also an excellent chef in the kitchen.
He has been known to be creative in the kitchen - cooking simple, yet delicious dishes for his daughter, Mouse. He has featured on the Lifestyle website before with his delicious meat-free Monday recipes that don't have to take hours to cook.
He's back with another delicious recipe. This time, he's tried his hand at Fry's plant-based sausages, mash and green beans.
Watch Darren's meat-free video below, and you could just win in the process. Learn more below:
