Give your brain a boost by eating these three foods!
What you eat can have a major impact on the functioning of your brain.
While most base their meal choices on hunger, weight loss, cravings or healthy living - many don't give too much thought about how it will affect one of the most important organs in their body.
But your body's physical needs are just as important as your mental needs - and your brain could do with a power boost every now and again.

Here's a look at foods that can boost your brainpower.
Blueberries
Berries have many health benefits, but here's one you probably don't know about. Studies have shows that blueberries can slow short-term memory loss. According to WebMD, eating berries once a week is particularly good when it comes to protecting your brain against age-related memory loss.
Beetroot
This root vegetable is packed with antioxidants that help your body get rid of toxins in your blood. The nitrates found in beetroot are also good for your brain. They help boost blood flow to your brain, which is important for good mental health. According to Dr Jockers, beets increase blood flow to the brain, which helps prevent the onset of dementia in the elderly. Beetroot also contains the nutrient choline, which helps with brain memory. Studies have shown that the nutrient can also help fetal brain development for pregnant women.
Salmon
This fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which health experts say is one of the top super foods for your brain. According to ScienceLine, our brain is made up of 60% fatty acids - two-thirds of which are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that is found in oily fish. Our bodies are unable to make the essential fatty acid, and we need to get it from foods such as salmon. Including omega-3 fats in your diet will help with new brain cell formation, and protect you from disorders associated with the brain. These include dementia and depression. Spinach, roasted soybeans, and chia seed are also high in omega-3 fats.
