Four must-try wine cocktails this spring
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Celebrate the start of the spring season with a delicious wine cocktail.
Spring is finally here, which means we can ditch the coffee and whip out our cocktail shakers to make some delicious alcoholic beverages.
While South Africans celebrate "Spring Day" on the first of September, the season technically only begins later in the month.
But you might as well get an early start to the festivities - wine glass in hand!
Wine is great on its own, but it can also be used to make cocktails.
Here's a look at some popular wine cocktails you can try this spring:
Fresh and fruity Sangria
A cold Sangria is the perfect post-work Friday night drink. This fruity Spanish drink uses a red wine base that is often paired with a carbonated drink. Brandy can also be added to some recipes. Some of the popular fruit used includes lemons, limes, berries, apples, and oranges. While a traditional Sangria uses red wine, you can also make it with white wine.

The Bishop Cocktail
If you love wine and rum, then this is the cocktail for you. The Bishop Cocktail is sometimes referred to as a simplified Sangria. It is super easy to make and all you will need is wine, rum, simple syrup, and the juice of a lime.

Strawberry wine punch
Strawberry wine punch can be made in pitcher or big batches. And the best part is you don’t really need a fancy wine to make it. You can use fresh strawberries or a strawberry daiquiri mix. We love this Strawberry and Lime Moscato Punch recipe by Real House Moms.
