Drinking tea for your oral health

Here is another reason to enjoy that cup of tea...
According to the World Population Review, tea is the most widely consumed beverage globally.
Tea has many benefits and can even be enjoyed by toddlers.
Tea expert Jessica Bonin, the founder of Lady Bonin's Tea, says one of the amazing benefits of tea is that it can help your oral health.
"Health benefits of tea include improvement in oral health," says Jessica.
She adds that this is made possible by "the presence of polyphenols, flavonoids, and tannins".

The tea expert says the presence of the three properties "helps in inhibiting the growth of various bacteria that may cause plaque formation".
Jessica adds that "the fluoride content found in tea may also be effective in reducing the risk of dental caries or tooth decay/cavity".
A report by the Dental Health Organisation supports Jessica's findings, specifically when it comes to green and black tea.
The organisation reports that 'drinking cups of green and black tea can help your dental health'.
'This is because the drink lacks any sugar (provided you haven’t added any) and can help keep saliva in your mouth while lowering its acidity. It can also help wash away dental plaque and reduce cavities, something that is great for anyone’s mouth.'
Lastly, the organisation says, 'Tea is also a natural source of fluoride which helps strengthen enamel.'
There you, grab that cup of tea. Remember that adding sugar and milk can affect the health properties of the tea.
