What is your dream job and why?
I am currently in my dream job. Commercial sales at ECR – the funnest, sunniest, best radio station in KZN, with the ocean and the mountains both on my doorstep. I’m in heaven. Doing what I know and love in the best environment.
How do you remain relevant and passionate about your job?
By staying curious and open to change. Talking to clients personally, understanding their needs, and collaborating and working on the best way to offer real solutions to business problems. Also, by being part of a media company that gives back to its broader community.
What is your opinion on having other females to lean on in your team?
It’s important that women offer each other support and a safety net. Typically, women have a number of roles to juggle and I have always enjoyed working in an environment that is sympathetic and sensitive to family and personal needs. Female mentors are a huge help in the workplace and offer advice that is relevant and inspiring.
What is your advice for budding female professionals?
It’s important to be professional. Have fun but don’t blur boundaries. Look for female role models in your arena and consciously build your network. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Return favours. You are never too young to plan for your retirement.
