Father's Day: Ways to show your dad appreciation
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Here is how you can make this Father's Day special!
Father's Day is always celebrated on the third Sunday of June.
It is an important day on the calendar because fathers get to hear or see just how much they mean to their children.
Whether it is the sweet memory of daddy teaching you how to ride a bicycle, him carrying you on his shoulders, or buying you your favourite toy, dads are real-life superheroes that brighten up their children's lives.
Many fathers spend countless hours working hard in order to ensure that their kids can have the best that life has to offer.
Their role includes giving love to their children, shielding them from harm, teaching them principles, and building their confidence. Fathers also offer moral and emotional support for their children and provide for their physical needs such as buying them food, clothes, and shelter.
So, this Father's Day is the perfect time to say thank you to your dad for all his efforts.
Let's look at ways you can show your father just how much he means to you:

Spend quality time together
One of the greatest gifts you can give to your father is to spend quality time with him, especially if you do not stay under one roof. Time is a great gift because someday your parent might no longer be on earth and it is the memories of the time you spent together that will help you live on.

Words of affirmation
How often do you tell your dad you love him and tell him just how much you appreciate him? This Father's Day is the perfect time to pour your heart out and tell your father about the great impact he has had on your life.
Simply expressing your gratitude to your father will go a long way - whether you do it in person, on the phone, through text or email, or by creating a card for him.
Acts of service
Waking up in the morning to make your dad breakfast in bed, helping clean out the garage, or doing any chores that you know your dad will appreciate, is another way of expressing love to him.
You can also choose to make your father lunch or dinner or wash his car for him.
Gifts
Many retail stores are running Father's Day sales. You can buy your dad a gadget or clothes, give him money or shower him with a new car - the list is endless.
You can also ask your dad what he would love or simply surprise him with a thoughtful gift.
Whatever you choose to do this Father's Day, make sure you make it count!
