Skin Care Therapist Bonolo Shuping shares great skincare tips to ensure your skin stays healthy and looks radiant.
Having great skin doesn’t always come naturally. Most of the time it takes work and dedication.
Skin Care Therapist Bonolo Shuping says one of the first things to do is to drink lots of water. “As cliché as this may sound, drink water! Staying hydrated is the best thing you can ever do for your skin,” says Bonolo.
Apart from keeping your skin hydrated, Bonolo says it’s important to make sure your skin is well moisturised.
“The three common but magical steps we all know.... cleanse, tone, moisturise," says Bonolo. She adds that cleansing, toning and moisturising should be done daily.
However, it's important that you use the right products to get the best results.
"Get a great cleanser that goes well with your skin. A great cleanser and toner have to be gentle, nothing that will rip the layers of your skin,” says Bonolo.
She also says you should be mindful of the ingredients.
“When you buy a toner never go for anything with alcohol when you have sensitive skin. Rather get something with a good Rooibos extract and witch hazel,” advises Bonolo.
“Common but good ingredients you can look out for in a cleanser is glycerine… a glycerine-based cleanser with sodium laureth sulfate,” she says.
She adds that it’s important to get “a great day and night cream.”
“When buying a day cream, it has to have SPF, sulfonic acid, Glycine soja oil and benzyl alcohol,” says Bonolo.
However, she warns against “using your night cream during the day and vice versa,”.
Another product that is a must-have for beautiful skin is a serum.
“One thing that is a big deal now when it comes to skin care routine is a serum. Invest in a good serum but that too depends on your skin. We have serums that contain hyaluronic acid which is basically water for your skin. For breakouts, you can get an ageless serum which helps to free the skin from congestion. For pigmentation, a serum that contains retinol is great however get a professional to assist with that,” advises Bonolo.
“You can also go for facials on a weekly, fortnightly or on a monthly basis depending on the results you are looking for,” adds Bonolo.
Facials help to relax the muscles and tone your face. It can also minimise fine lines and wrinkles.
