Amanda du-Pont demands #JusticeForNamhla, speaks out against GBV
"Protect women’s rights! We are not animals."
Amanda Du-Pont has joined thousands of people calling for justice for Namhla Mtwa, who was brutally murdered.
Mtwa was shot nine times in her car in Mthatha on 21 April and was declared dead at the scene. The number one suspect in her murder case is her boyfriend, Major Bhekizulu, who was allegedly abusive.
Amanda took to Twitter to plead for an end to gender-based violence.
"Protect women’s rights! We are not animals," she wrote.
The media personality applauded Namhla for ensuring that she documented the abuse and left behind evidence.

"Namhla a true hero leaving evidence behind because she knew she might not make it out alive," wrote Amanda.
Upon Namhla's death, her family unlocked her phone and discovered disturbing photos, videos, and texts which showed the abuse she suffered.
The graphic photos, videos, and screenshots were shared by her sister Sanga Nozintaba on social media. According to The South African publication, in one of the SMSs, Namhla pleaded with Major to visit a doctor after sustaining injuries from a beating he allegedly gave her, but he refused and allegedly threatened her with another beating. She also needed to ask for permission to leave her flat to go visit her family.
Amanda has asked that justice be served.
"She deserves justice," she wrote on Twitter.
She also expressed how fearful women are because of the high rate of GBV in the country.
"We are tired, scared and fearful. We speak for those who never make it out alive at the hands of GBV," she wrote.

Namhla's boyfriend has refuted claims that he is behind the murder.
"I have done nothing wrong. I am innocent and would like the public to allow the law to run its course because the residents are now jeopardising the case by going after me, as this might ruin chances of getting the real perpetrator," he told News24.
Both the ANC and EFF have urged police to act swiftly and arrest the murderer.
