Rules of The Game
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Thinking of entering Last Kid Standing, Spelling Bee Edition? Here are the rules of the game.
- The competition will start with a daily Spelling Bee game played on the breakfast show with Darren, Keri and Sky.
- Kids will be contacted prior via their parent or guardian and will be expected to play live on-air.
- Each child will be given a word to spell out of a pool of words submitted by Clifton Primary School according to the grade 4 syllabus.
- The kid who spells their given word incorrectly will be automatically knocked out.
- In an event of a tiebreaker, the child who spelt the word the quickest will emerge as the winner.
- A semi-final round will be held every Friday where daily winners from that week will compete against each other.
- The semi-final round will be live on-air and will adopt the same format as the daily games.
- The Judges will uphold the rules and determine whether or not words are spelt correctly.
- For clarification, before beginning to spell, the speller may ask the pronouncer to say the word again, define it, and/or use it in a sentence. Such requests will be granted until the judges agree that the word has been made sufficiently clear to the speller.
- The speller will have limited time to spell each word.
- Once the speller has begun to spell, he/she will not be allowed to stop and start over.
- The winner of the semi-final round will now be a finalist and must be available to compete in the grand finale on 18 May 2021 at the ECR headquarters in Umhlanga.
- All finalists will need to be present at the finale in order to play during the following time: 06:00 – 10:00.
- Kids are encouraged to have as much fun as possible.
