KZN flooding and storms claim at least 45 lives

Emergency services in Durban have recovered four more bodies as the death toll from the storms in KwaZulu-Natal climbs.

Search and rescue teams in Tongaat found the body of a ten-year-old girl who was in a car that got washed away yesterday evening near a flooded bridge in Flamingo Heights
The child was with her grandmother and two other children aged four months and 18-months in the vehicle.

The bodies of the other three victims were recovered earlier today.
In Bonela in central Durban, the bodies of three family members were pulled out from the rubble of their home about an hour ago.
A sand bank collapsed on their house in the early hours of this morning.

Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics says rescue teams couldn't get to them earlier because of the weather conditions.
"Three people have lost their lives here - one family, it's the mother believed to be in her 60s and her two daughters believed to be in her 30s and 20s and have been declared by paramedcis at the scene.
"The scene is still active as SAPS is still investigating."
Local government authorities say 45 people are now known to have died in KZN.
