Kharwastan community hopeful as rebuilding begins
Residents in Chatsworth's Kharwastan community are relying on scaffolding to travel into and out of the area.
That's after the collapse of the main bridge during this week's storm.
Locals used that bridge to get in and out of their community - but after that came down, they formed a makeshift bridge by laying scaffold on the ground.
Resident Shirley Pillay says it helps because they now have access to the shops to buy food and water.
"Everything is looking good. We received some water - things aren't so bad. We just have to wait until they start [rebuilding] the bridge. It's a big job but hopefully - they do it soon so we can go back and forth to our lives again. They are working on the project itself. I think by the weekend, everything will be sorted out," she said.

Local officials have assured residents that work is under way to repair all damaged roads and infrastructure.
