Extreme weather shows growing effects of climate change: Greenpeace

Greenpeace says the storms in KwaZulu-Natal, Mozambique and other parts of the continent this week should serve as a wake up call to leaders to act urgently to address the threat of climate change.
In Mozambique, one death has already been reported after Cyclone Kenneth made landfall overnight, a month after another Cyclone claimed hundreds of lives there - as well as in Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Three others have been declared dead in neighbouring Comoros.
Greenpeace's Happy Khambule says the fact that Kenneth is a Category 4 storm is an unusual and threatening factor.
"They are frequent and they are becoming more stronger. In fact right now, the one that has already hit landfall is a Category 4 storm which is not usual for storms to be of that high intensity. It means the impacts people are feeling are becoming worse than previously," he said.
