R250 000 reward offered for safe return of baby Siwaphiwe

A reward of up to R250 000 is being offered to anyone who has information on a missing one month-old baby.

when it was hijacked yesterday at the City View Shopping Centre in Durban.Her mother, Sibongile Mbambo, and eight-year-old sibling were forced out of the car.

The police's Thulani Zwane has appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
"There is a reward of up to R250 000 for any information that would lead to the recovery of the baby and the arrests and convictions of the suspects. Whoever has information, that can be channeled on the Crimestop number, which is 08600 10111," he said.

Various search and rescue teams are currently on the ground, continuing the search for the missing baby.
Police say they have increased their search team, with more than 100 officers now on the ground.

Meanwhile, this Durban woman whose child was also abducted - but later found - has sympathised with the parents of little Siwaphiwe.
"We spent more time looking in the pool, in a cupboard wherever, - in the meantime she was with three people who stole her out the yard. It was scary, it was horrible - you don't know what to do with yourself, because you don't know where your child is," she said.
