Hands of Hope

Rebuilding Communities Together
Two weeks ago, East Coast Radio launched a #UniteKZN initiative that saw radio stations across KZN, join forces to help rebuild and bring about peace and stability in KZN. As our next step in achieving this goal, we have partnered with The Sharks as two KZN organisations coming together to help rebuild our KZN community.
“The Hands of Hope - Rebuilding Communities Project” powered by KZN’S NO.1 Hit Music Station and The Sharks sees two proudly KZN brands coming together to unite the province and make a real difference.
On 5 August 2021 from 6 am until 1 pm, we will host a special telethon broadcast at The Sharks stadium. We will call on all South Africans - who are able to donate - to please open their hearts and wallets and contribute to this uplifting campaign.
The live broadcast will see our much-loved presenters and Sharks rugby players manning the phone lines and recording all donations.
All donations collected during the 7-hour telethon will be used to help rebuild KZN and uplift communities devastated by the #KZNShutdown.
Here’s how the telethon will work:
- Set your alarm for 5 August at 6 am
- Call your NO.1 Radio station on 087 087 9495 to make a pledge/donation
- The telethon will run until 1 pm on Thursday, 5 August
- Upon request, East Coast Radio will issue you with a Section 18A certificate after proof of payment has been received. To request your certificate, please email: [email protected]
If you want to make a cash donation prior to the telethon, please find the banking details below:

The #HandsOfHope campaign is a story of hope and upliftment that seeks to improve lives and peoples’ livelihoods.
Hope drives human ambition and the will to succeed despite the odds and this is central to this campaign. With hope, anything is possible, and by giving hope, we at East Coast Radio and The Sharks aim to empower the people of KZN, and to believe that anything is possible.
Remember to tune in and keep an eye out on our social media platforms for more exciting details about this week’s upcoming telethon – don’t forget to set the date: Thursday, 5 August at 6 am!
