Multiple Grammy winner Aretha Franklin was one of the greatest musicians to ever live. The 'Queen of Soul' was born on March 25, 1942 and died on August 16, 2018.

Her music has inspired millions of people all over the world for over six decades.
Franklin started singing at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, from a young age. Her father was a minister at the church.

She has created some of the most remarkable songs such as 'A Natural Woman', ‘Respect’, ‘Freeway of Love’, and ‘I Say a Little Prayer’.

The phenomenal singer was the first female artist to be inducted into the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' in 1987.
In 2008, she won her 18th Grammy Award. Franklin’s albums topped the charts.
At 72, she released the album, ‘Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics’ - an album featuring some of her classics and songs from other divas.
The album is her highest debut on the Billboard charts
To celebrate what would have been her 79th birthday, East Coast Gold will be playing her greatest hits throughout the day on Thursday.
