PJ Powers, whose real name is Penelope Jane Dunlop, was born in Durban on 16 July 1960. She celebrates her birthday today.
The star has enjoyed a highly successful musical career spanning more than 20 years.
One of the highlights of her career was writing the official 85th birthday song for the late President Nelson Mandela.
PJ's music has opened big doors for her and allowed her to sing before presidents, queens, and world leaders such as Bill Clinton and media guru Oprah Winfrey.
She has 12 gold discs and four platinum CDs.
To celebrate PJ's birthday, we bring you many of her greatest hits in a half-hour special on Damon Beard's show this afternoon from 15:30. The songs include 'Jabulani', 'Mama Africa', and 'Feel So Strong'.
