Enjoy amazing views during a boat trip with the KZN Sharks Board

Recreation meets education during the KZN Sharks Board’s boat rides…
You love the beach and you love swimming, but have you ever wondered how swimmers are protected from sharks?
The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board has an entertaining way of educating people about shark nets – a fun boat ride.
The board is responsible for servicing and maintaining shark nets on the KZN coastline.
Staff members from their Operations Department show visitors how they service the shark safety gear off Durban’s beautiful Golden Mile beaches during their weekday boat tours.
You will get to enjoy amazing views of Moses Mabhida and other Durban landmarks during the early morning boat ride.
A few things to note:
- The boat leaves the Durban Harbour (Wilson’s Warf) at 6:30am and returns at 8:30am. That’s two hours of fun in the water!
- The boat trips run seven days a week, but you can only watch the Operations Department servicing the shark nets Monday to Friday.
- The fee is R350 per person. Children under the age of six are not allowed.
Each person who buys a ticket for the boat ride will also get to see the educational ‘Audio Visual & Shark Dissection’ show at no extra cost.
The 26-minute presentation is a fun way to learn about the sensory biology and internal anatomy of sharks.
Please note that the show only takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (A minimum of 15 people is required for a shark dissection show to take place).
Both young and old will enjoy learning about these majestic fish.
You won’t regret getting an early start to your day once you ride out to sea and into the beautiful rising sun.
Visit the KZN Sharks Board website for more details or call/SMS/WhatsApp 082 403 9206 to make a booking.
