Carol's thrilling #SweetEscape weekend at Hartford House
Updated | By Sponsored by Tourism KwaZulu-Natal
Carol Ofori was whisked away to the majestic Hartford House.
How does one describe a magical experience using words? It is simply impossible to use words to fathom Carol's experience in the Midlands this weekend. Our first destination for Carol Ofori's #SweetEscape, courtesy of KZN Tourism, was at an esteemed farm in Mooi River called Hartford House.
The trip to Hartford House was a little under two hours with Producer Rory at the wheel. The team had imagined it would take us longer and they would be able to sneak a nap in, but the journey there was quite fun for the Carol and her producer.
If you don't believe us, have a look at this moment here:
They had not even arrived yet but the excitement of the trip was peaking through the roof and we were not disappointed on arrival.
The courteous and warm welcoming energy of the staff at Hartford House led by their general manager, Maretha Langehoven, set up the rest of the stay.
Carol was immediately called in for her Chinese pressure point massage. At that point, she had given everyone a tour of her beautiful room, which contained an impeccably detailed bathroom with heated floors.
We then got up and close with the world-class Chef Paul, who let us into his kitchen as Carol is a curious lady.
We then woke up on Friday morning ready to go on a hot air balloon! Our leading lady was anxious at the beginning thinking about her beautiful children and what would happen if something went wrong with the landing...
Thankfully, one of the guys from Hot Air Ballooning SA convinced her she would be safe up in the air and return safely to the ground as well. And it worked!

This was then followed by breakfast which was exactly how we expected it. The menu at Hartford House is another level of class and sophistication. What's most impressive about their menu is the variety. For breakfast, you could find all your classics, including some that include a South African twist.
If you missed it, we made sure to capture it:
Lunch was similarly impressive. The menu is pescatarian, vegetarian, and vegan friendly, while those that specifically don't enjoy red meat are covered. Chef Paul was open to making adjustments accordingly.

This was immediately followed by an informative drive around the Stud farm with world-class horses.
If you are a horse enthusiast and an avid horse race watcher, then you'll know Act of War, South Africa's top performing stallion. Carol had the chance to meet the talented young horse and the rest of his friends on the farm.
The farm keeps some horses for certain clients for breeding and some simply helping them with maintenance. With their stables a little further from the main house, you'll have a refreshing drive through the farm with the best view.
This is Carol Ofori with some of Act of War's friends:
The adventure did not end there.
What happens when you give a tough, competitive, and playful woman a chance to try a new activity?
Well, in this case, she wins and beats everyone! That's Carol Ofori.
Watch the moment that got her crowned the star of Clay Pigeon Shooting:
There is simply nothing that can prepare you for an experience at this beautiful farm in KwaZulu-Natal.
Carol received some lessons from Jan from Angler Fish as she tried her hand at trout and bass fishing.
Whilst she did not catch any fish, she looked really stylish regardless of the freezing weather by the dam.
If you are thinking of taking some time away soon with family and friends, then Hartford House is that place to let off some steam and simply be.
Peaceful. Regal. Magical.
Those are the words to describe the magnificent destination KZN Tourism helped us visit this weekend.
We cannot wait to take you with on our next #SweetEscape! We hope you enjoyed Carol's journey on the social media pages.
