Join the Beachwood clean-up and make a difference
Here's a great initiative to keep our beaches clean.
The beach is a great place to visit during your spare time whether you want to go for a quick swim or just some fun lazing around in the sun.
However, sometimes our beaches do get dirty with all sorts of litter, which is not a pleasant sight for both locals and tourists.
It's also extremely dangerous because that litter could end up being blown away into the ocean by the wind, resulting in harming the innocent sea creatures, which is sad because some of those creatures could be extinct in 30 to 50 years.

Lizzard alongside Breathe have come up with a great initiative by hosting a beach clean-up to make a difference to the community.
The clean-up is open to all members of the community and the more hands involved - the better!
This just sounds like it will be a great day of fun and saving the world.
Here are some of the impacts of plastic pollution:
- Plastic never biodegrades in the water.
- Only 16% of plastic is recycled in South Africa.
- By 2050 the amount of plastic will outweigh the number of fish.
- 100 000 animals die from being strangled by plastic.
- Many sea creatures accidently eat plastic.
- Plastic is the biggest form of debris in the ocean.
