Run for Rangers is gearing up for another 100km event in 2024 to raise funds for the men and women protecting South Africa's wildlife.

The charity run will take place from 26 to 29 July. This year's event will again be held at one of KwaZulu-Natal's popular game reserves

"After the incredible success of Run for Rangers 2023, we are partnering with Babanango Game Reserve for years to come in hopes of growing our event and cause alongside their breathtaking reserve," the non-profit said on its website.

Proceeds from the 100km run will be used to "support and uplift game rangers in Africa". Babanango Game Reserve is thrilled to be part of the initiative.

"This isn't just a race; it's a show of support for our rangers, where participants will cover 100 km over two days across demanding terrain.Backed by the International Rangers Federation and the Game Rangers Association of Africa, this event aims to highlight the extraordinary efforts of game rangers in South Africa and globally," the Zululand game reserve wrote on its Instagram page.

Run for Rangers was founded by former Hilton College learner Harry Bailey

The then 18-year-old wanted to go the extra mile for the park rangers who risk their lives every day to keep game reserves safe.

"In 2022, he set himself the challenge of running 100km over two days to see if he was as tough as a Ranger. Having never run more than 5km in his life, he trained hard despite challenging health conditions and completed the 100km challenge. In 2023, the event grew (as did the terrain), and every participant expressed what a life-changing and humbling experience the event provided."
