Kloof's Hidden Gem: A hunt for vintage treasures in KZN
Updated | By East Coast Radio / Reeshni Chetty
Love vintage and sustainability? Head to Kloof's Thrifted Market where you’ll score unique clothes, records, treasures, and much more...
Calling all KZN thrifting enthusiasts and sustainability champions! There's a new spot in town waiting to be explored: The Upper Highway Thrifted & Vintage Treasures Market.
Imagine rows of clothing bursting with quality second-hand finds, vintage records waiting to be rediscovered, and hidden treasures peeking out from overflowing boxes.
As Sanja Hanekom, the market's founder, describes it: "An array of clothing rails filled with quality second-hand clothing, bric-a-brac, small collectables and boxes of hidden treasures."
This market isn't just about shopping – it's about embracing a sustainable lifestyle and connecting with the community.
Whether you're a seasoned thrifter or simply curious about pre-loved treasures, this market offers something for everyone.
This initiative goes beyond just scoring the perfect vintage find.
It's about nurturing a culture of reuse and supporting local talent.
Hanekom aims to combat fast fashion and overflowing landfills by encouraging conscious living.
In her own words: "The reason I created this market is simple yet powerful – I wanted to nurture the culture of reuse, recycle, upcycle, and support our local economy."
Inspired by the wisdom of our grandmothers – valuing quality and giving items a second life – the Upper Highway Thrifted & Vintage Market is a space to share stories, make memories, and foster a love for pre-loved treasures.
It's a movement advocating for upcycling and celebrating local artisans.
