Summer officially starts in December, but Durban is already experiencing sweltering temperatures. 

That can only mean two things - more beach days and more ice-cream.

Paul’s Homemade Ice-Cream 

If you're looking for luxurious textures and unique ice-cream flavours then you need to get your hands on Paul's Ice-Cream. From salted caramel to pistachio white chocolate, you will keep going back for more! 

The shop on Florida Road has permanently closed, but you can still get your Paul's ice-cream fix at several stockists in Durban.

Old Town Italy

No ice-cream round-up would be complete without some gelato indulgence. But don't tell your Italian friends that you're there for "ice-cream"! While gelato means ice-cream or "frozen" in Italian, it has a denser and smoother texture. 

Old Town Italy in Umhlanga not only serves amazing food but also the tastiest gelato.

Romano Ice Cream

Romano Ice Cream on Florida Road also offers authentic gelato. Their gelato flavours include cheesecake, salty peanut, caramel biscotti, apple pie and nocciola. Romano's menu is also Halaal-approved. 

According to their website, "the scoop range boasts more than 20 flavours including frozen yoghurt and sorbet and our product range includes ice cream cake slices, gelato on sticks".
