Pies are a staple in South Africa. When you’re not buying them from your local garage at an obscure hour of the day, they can make for an enjoyable meal.
Over the past week you may have caught the East Coast Breakfast show engaging in Pie Wars. Garage pies are one thing, but there is a whole other level to this dilemma... gourmet pies.

Mzansi has very strong feelings about pies and when you have a pie paired with mash, veggies, and more, it can be a hearty meal!
The East Coast Breakfast team have decided to share the verdict on this matter.
Here are some of the best places in KZN to get pub pies:
In true Irish spirit, Waxy O’Connors is where you can kick back, relax, and enjoy your pub pie. These decadent pastries come highly recommended by fellow East Coasters.
“The Irish believe that the only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook,” share the restaurant.
