Updated | By Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Don't underestimate the importance of what you eat before taking on the Suncoast ECR Big Walk, whether it's the 5km or 10km...

Excitement is building as we count down to the Suncoast ECR Big Walk – just one month to go!
This fun, high-energy event welcomes people of all fitness levels, which is part of what makes it so special.
Some walk in memory of a loved one, while others take part with their fitness clubs or simply for the joy of moving.
Everyone has a reason, and we love seeing the variety of stories on the day.
If you're not usually active and you're gearing up for your first 5km or 10km walk, it’s important to know how to prepare properly.
If your body isn’t properly prepped for the walk, you’ll definitely feel it afterwards. Some people load up with a full breakfast, while others skip it entirely – but what’s the right approach?
Ahead of the Suncoast ECR Big Walk, we asked Danny Guselli to share his go-to tips on what to eat before hitting the road.
Here’s what he had to say.
The night before, let's do a small carbo-load. Pasta is a great option, or you can choose healthy carbs like sweet potatoes, normal potatoes, or basmati rice with a nice protein like tuna, chicken, or ostrich mince. The morning of: rolled oats, banana or even yoghurt with granola. The key is to keep hydrated. Water intake is vital.- Danny Guselli
Don't forget to have fun preparing for the walk. It's all about getting together with the community and moving your body.
Remember to be mindful of people walking with younger kids, be patient and stay kind.
